Welcome to the Grandpa Goff Bug Club! We are going to have lots of buggy fun. Each month, we’ll add a new module of activities for toddlers based around a theme of having fun with bugs. Access each main module by clicking the images below:
Month 1: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs
Gather your bug hunting stuff. We are going to have some fun finding bugs together.
- We’ll show you 3 fun games you can play indoors or outdoors with a bug net,
- Now is a good time to get started Instagramming your #bugclub photos of bugs
- You’ll learn how to move, wiggle, blink, or slither like a bug at a bugdance party where you practice large motor skills and learn why they are important
Month 2: Snail Safari
Meet a funny little French snail named Escargot and make some snail salad with croutons, just like Escargot loves!
- Go on a Snail Safari to find live snails
- Read the award-winning 2017 picture book, Escargot together, using your best French accent
- Make a Snail Salad, complete with croutons you cut with shaped bento-box cutters
- Find a recipe for making “Snail Slime”
- Commit to Read-Aloud and Think-Aloud with your children every day
Month 3: Caterpillars
- Order your caterpillars online and get ready to wonder about what they will be when they grow up
- Paint with cotton balls to make your own caterpillar creation
- Snip straws, string beads, or glue pom poms to make a caterpillar of your own
- Learn why counting, sorting, and patterns are so critical to your child’s development and future academic success
Month 4: Butterflies
- This month, watch your caterpillars turn into beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies that you raise right in your own home.
- Dress up in your own set of butterfly wings
- Match and sort butterflies by color, number and shape
- Make your own colorful butterfly craft
Month 5: Ladybugs
- Make ladybug cupcakes or ladybug love bug cookies
