remote control - work into playThe only tool you’ll need for this game is a real (or pretend) remote control.  It’s a fun one for the child who is balking at helping with his household chores. You can start with almost any activity that requires physical motion:  Dancing, cleaning a bedroom together, jumping rope, bouncing a ball, doing the dishes are examples.

The person holding the remote simply points the remote at the person he/she wants to direct, gives the remote a click and shouts out instructions such as “fast forward” “rewind” or “pause.”  If you’re dancing together, “play” will mean go ahead and dance, while “fast forward” means dancing double the tempo.  If you’re cleaning a bedroom together, “fast forward” means you’ll sprint to get the blocks picked up and “pause” means to freeze in your tracks.  The “rewind” command is the most fun of all, because it can be used simply to do things “backwards” or it can be used to actually “rewind the action”—which can be fun if your Dad just dried a plate and you want to see him put it back in the dirty dishwater.  Make sure your child gets a chance to control the remote too!
